In Embedded Systems you occasionally run up against a problem that involves Matrices. You can find good but dry articles covering the subject, if you have some basses Matrices to build from. If you don't your left scratching your head asking "what was that saying?".
A short, and old (1972), book by Digital Equipment Corporation BASIC Matrix Operations presents the subject in an understandable fashion, using New York Hot Dog Vendors to show how Matrices apply to the real world.
Most relevant today is the explanation of why you would want to square and cube a Matrix to solve Wireless Sensor routing problems.
